A mural is a large painting applied directly to a wall, ceiling or floor to decorate and beautify buildings, both inside and out. Murals can be found in various styles along freeways, underpasses, and the sides of buildings in major cities. Large companies also use outdoor murals to add color and draw attention away from industrial structures and machinery. When creating a mural, artists typically make a smaller version of the painting and project it onto the surface to outline before filling it in.
